Suburb-Level CO2e Dataset Overview
The suburb-level CO2e dataset provides comprehensive insights into carbon emissions at a suburb granularity across Australia. This dataset includes aggregated CO2e metrics calculated based on residential energy consumption. It allows for detailed analysis of emissions profiles, offering a high-level view that can inform environmental impact assessments, sustainability initiatives, and urban planning.

The dataset incorporates state-specific carbon intensity factors for electricity generation, accounting for variations in the energy mix (e.g., coal, natural gas, renewables) in each state. This ensures an accurate representation of CO2e based on the carbon footprint of electricity consumed in each suburb.

This data set has been generated with a top-down approach, using national datasets and energy regulator benchmarks to inform the output.

FIELDS INCLUDED:
-
postcode: The postal code corresponding to each suburb, used for geographic identification.
-
suburb: The name of the suburb.
-
total_co2e_emissions_kg: The total carbon dioxide equivalent (CO2e) emissions for the suburb, measured in kilograms. This metric reflects the aggregated emissions from residential energy consumption and other sources within the suburb.
